MRTD celebrates 250,000th Rider & Contest winner

  • On October 25, 2024 Connie Barton of Waterloo IL. rode with MRTD to Lily’s Nails & Spa and with that trip she was the 250,000 rider for MRTD since they opened their doors in 2005. Connie stated she had just used MRTD a couple days earlier to get her hair done, and that she frequently uses MRTD for her transportation needs. As Connie exited the vehicle at her destination, she was met by MRTD Executive Director Jesica Gentry Schlimme and Community Relations Manager Mark Beare, holding a large 250,000 rider sign. Connie was very excited and surprised, and thought for sure her driver Dj Smith, knew something about all of this, which he did not, and was just as surprised as she was. For being the 250,000th rider Connie received a strip of free ride tickets, MRTD promotional items and a $100 Wal-Mart gift card.
  • In early August 2024, MRTD on their Facebook page “Monroe Randolph Transit District” started giving statistics of their 19 year history and hints about an upcoming contest. On September 18, 2024 the contest kicked off, and the rules were to guess the date that the 250,000th ride would take place. That first day Barb Jeremiah of Steeleville guessed October 25, 2024. After nearly 60 contestants guessed what day they thought the 250,000 ride would take place, and a little over 5 weeks later, Barb was the only one that guessed that special day. For winning the contest, Barb received MRTD promotional items and a $100 Wal-Mart gift card.
  • Thank you to everyone that has ever rode with MRTD as you are the reason we made it to 250,000. Also a big thanks to those who follow MRTD on Facebook and participated in the guess the date contest. Please keep an eye out for more exciting things coming soon.
